He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1953 where he played and lettered in every sport. Following his graduation, he attended Bay City Business College, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and even sought a career with the Detroit Tigers. Instead, he returned to Caro to purchase his father’s tire business, Raymond Service that he operated for over twenty-five years. On July 9, 1966, he was united in marriage with Karen Shaver, and the couple has cherished fifty-five loving years together. Lefty was a member of the Indianfields Township Zoning Board and the township’s Board of Review. He was also an enthusiastic participant in several plays with the Thumb Area Center for the Arts where he was always sure to fill a room with his comedic roles. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and boating. Lefty and Karen moved full time to Sand Point over twenty years ago and enjoyed winters in Fort Myers Beach in Florida. While in Sand Point, he also served on the Caseville Township Board.
