A Wednesday Tuscola Township crash claimed the life of a Vassar woman.
According to a press release from the Michigan State Police, troopers were dispatched at about 8:40 p.m. to a crash on Ormes Road near Slafter Road in the southern part of the township. Authorities say 20-year-old Opal Madeline Swims, the driver of one of the vehicles, was declared dead at the scene. The other driver, a 32-year-old woman from Milford, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local medical care facility.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash. No additional details were released, though the incident remains under investigation.
MSP troopers were assisted by the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, Millington Police Department, Vassar Fire Department and Tuscola County Mobile Medical Response.
