Helen Marie Weis of Caro, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Medilodge of Cass City. Helen was born June 9, 1929 in Caro, the daughter of the late Maurice & Angela (Koerat) Dwyer and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage with Carl R. Weis on April 1, 1951 in Angola, Indiana and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2000. Helen was a member of the Tuscola County Conservation Club and its Junior Rifle Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed hunting, participating in trap shooting competitions, quilting, and gardening.
Helen is survived by two children, Wanda Obertein and her friend, Gary Hammerle, of Caro, Wendy Romain and her husband, Larry, of Caro; daughter-in-law, Kay Weis of Caro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Weis; brother, Maurice Dwyer; and sister, Stella Rushlo.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Weis Family Discretionary Fund for projects special to Helen, c/o Wanda Obertein, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
