School safety is the number one concern in all school districts. Sadly, recent events have brought this topic to the forefront. Mayville Schools, along with many other districts, are scrutinizing, analyzing and adjusting their security measures and emergency plans to make schools a safer place for students to attend and learn.
In response to neighboring communities, Mayville Community Schools implemented precautionary security measures starting on the 17th of December to assure the safety of our students and staff. As the week progressed, difficult, yet necessary decisions were made which involved the cancelation of school and extra activities.
Local law enforcement agencies are involved whenever security decisions are made. We will continue to partner with the Mayville Police Department as we work to improve Mayville Schools. We are asking for your cooperation as we implement changes in the way we run the school to better serve the safety of our students and staff. Feel free to contact the school with any questions or concerns you may have. As in the past, the safety of our students is our number one concern.
