We live in the best country in the world. We have more freedoms than anyone on the face of the earth. Our healthcare is second to none. This country offers opportunity for everyone to be the best they can be. The majority of the people are hard-working, honest, peace loving, patriotic citizens. We are a generous people, always the first to help others in time of need. We send aid to many countries around the world and have shed the blood of our people to defend those who could not defend themselves.
Have you ever heard President Obama say one good thing about America? He does not like this country and is determined to change it. He is for social justice, reparations and re-distribution of wealth. He wants to control your freedoms, your money and your healthcare and kill the American dream.

Yes I've heard him say good things about America......and your suggesting that he does not like this country is just ridiculous. He wants to kill the American Dream? Really? Is that what he will do by reforming healthcare? Those that have adequate healthcare already just don't get it. They don't accept the fact that they are paying more and more for that healthcare every year in the form of lost raises in their wages. That jobs are being taken overseas because of the increased cost of healthcare to the employer. Why should we spend more money than any other nation for healthcare and not be able to provide the healthcare that even some of the poorer countries enjoy as a human right. What happens when a major illness strikes and you can no longer do the job that provides your healthcare? No one should die because they don't have healthcare, and no one should go broke because they become sick. Obama isn't killing the American Dream, it's people like you that are so narrow minded that everything has to center around yourself, that are killing the American Dream. If it doesn't benefit you then we don't need it. Your statement that Obama is for social justice (as if that's not a good thing) says it all. I'm sick and tired of those with absolutely no compassion for their fellow man, ranting about how we have to stop this President before he does something to help those in need. Before he rights a wrong. Think about this, the President doesn't need healthcare reform for himself or his family. He is doing this because it is the right thing to do. You would just like to bury your head in the sand and ignore the real problems, that affect real people, much like the last administration did.

Let's see if you want something you should work and pay for it. OK I don't have any use for Interstate Highways and I won't use them if you pay for them and I don't. Sound good? Same with county snow removal. Tuscola county has scaled back considerably on snow plowing to deal with budget shortfalls. Why not eliminate it completely. Buy yourself and 4 wheel drive with a snowplow and go where you please without my money. Apply this to anything you like, I'll pay for what I need, you pay for what you need.
If you show you have a need requiring charity turn to your family, friends, and community. They could build you the roads you need, plow the snow for you. Perhaps if we're neighbors we'll find ourselves out shoveling out our own hand built roads.
That you have never known anyone without health care, inflicted with a life threatening, yet curable disease, requiring tens of thousand of dollars to effectively treat, only to watch them either go without or filing for bankruptcy to protect what little they have left must be a wonderful planet you live on. But then these people need about as much government intervention as someone pinned in a burning car after an accident. Let them take care of their own or call a family member or neighbor to charitably save them. Why should I be responsible for it, pay for it with my hard earned money through taxation? I don't want the government giving me anything, I will pay my own way, just provide me a level playing, make it affordable, give my family the same opportunity.
Show me how to buy adequate health care to keep my family healthy that I can afford while working two full time, minimum wage jobs, with enough money leftover to make all the copay's and live at least a subsistence life. So I can cure a cancer if I have one and rejoin society as a contributor.
I pray this never happens to you, not a good way to learn the truth.

Why does it cost $80 to spend 10 minutes with a doctor (and that is cheap)
Why does it cost $365 for an ultrasound? They have used that same machine countless times and to charge $365 to run the machine for 15 - 20 minutes is outrageous.
Health care does need reformed. Big time.
Our homes should be and used to be the one "big" investment we make in our lives. Why are medical bills now more costly than owning your own home?
President Obama is just trying to bring back the American dream and I for one hope he can do it.
People are forced into poverty by healthcare. If you are poor enough you can qualify for government healthcare, Medicaid, if you start doing good for yourself they take your Medicaid away quick as sh**
Then you have people wondering why do I work 2 jobs, I still can’t pay my medical bills? Let alone their other bills. See where the problem comes?
Healthcare needs reformed. Just because it does not affect you at this time does not mean it is not affecting others.
Why is it when I send my kids to a private school I still have to pay public school tax? Those kids are not mine, why should I have to pay for their education?
That is the same logic you are using with healthcare.
Most people without healthcare just want reasonable priced services. They should at least put a cap on what a doctor can charge for a procedure.

Hey PFC. I'm all for fixing all that Obama claims to be working on fixing. The problem is that government can't really fix anything only exaserbate it. Why can't Obama get any of this passed through Congress? He literally owns both houses and needs no votes from the right. He can't because literally 80% of ALL the American people don't want what he is pushing. His own party has turned on him and all the Democrats are scared to death of 2010 when they will probably be voted out. You think govt health care is a good idea? Yes, it works in the military, but for one reason only. The military has a vested interest in maintaining healthy members of the military so there is hardly any rationing of care at all. If you need something you get it. However, when you transition from active duty to a veteran who no longer is serving his country the whole system changes. Now you are no longer a valuable asset and they do as little as possible for you. Don't believe me? Go to the VA and try to get in to see a doctor. After waiting forever then try to get back in to see him again for something he has deemed less than an emergency. Good luck.
I keep hearing the people who are in favor of the puclic one payer system tout the military health care system as an example as to why it is such a good idea, yet they are looking at the active duty side of it and not the inactive side of the VA for us older vets who are no longer serving.
Also, when you add the 47 million new people that Obama is claiming he wants to provide coverage for. Where will all the new doctors come from? If you don't add tons of new care providers along with expanded facilities you'll never get in to see a doc as the patient to doc ratio will be so huge he won't be able to squeeze you in. Oh, and don't forget to budget in the fact that your taxes will go up big time.
On another front. He is killing the American dream by his out of control monetary policy. He keeps printing $ and devaluing the curency. You think 60-80 bucks for a doc. visit is expensive now? Wait till the out of control inflation kicks in due to the vastly expanded money supply he is creating. He's a commie through and through. Just look at all his associations. If they are not outright commies they are socialists.

Yes there is a shortage of primary care doctors NOW, but it's not because people don't have healthcare. Part of the rising costs of healthcare is attributed to the fact that people are going to the emergency rooms at hospitals where they can't be refused treatment, for care that should be handled at a primary care doctors office. Of course you are too busy labeling people as socialists and commies to actually read anything and give any real facts. Keep up the good work spreading lies and propaganda. I have tried to keep up with the medical coverage debate, and it just seems to surpass me every time I try. I don't see how one person can have a problem with another person being allowed to stay healthy. It just doesn't make sense to me. Granted I don't want to pay for the drug dealer in Saginaw who overdosed. But I am willing to help pay for the neighbor down the street that is working 2 jobs and can't get enough hours at either business to qualify for employer offered insurance. Isn't there a way that it can monitored on who gets the coverage? Add stipulations that a person must work and/or volunteer X amount of hours to qualify? Just one more thought, isn't the United States a democracy? Why do we have to let the house or congress decide, when this is such a heated issue. Let the American citizens vote on it. Whatever the result is, it is. If you don't like it try again next time around. Or maybe I'm just living in a fantasy world where I think everyone should matter and have a voice.

2. The healthcare proposals are much like medicare a system that virtually every senior citizen chooses to be in and millions are familiar with. This is not like the system you describe.
3. Your claim that 80% don't want healthcare reform is just dishonest. Current polls still show about 22% don't want reform. Even with all the lies and distortions about health care reform it still gets a plurality of support.
78% favor some form of healthcare reform.
4. Obama can't get healthcare passed, what planet are you on? Odds are very heavy that healthcare reform will pass, there are many proposals on the table and the process to narrow those proposals to one plan goes on. The sen finance committee (which is the one Obama has been working with) is to be considered today and will be ready soon. Only then will we begin to know what the final package will look like. Do you realize how silly your claims will look then?
5. 80% of the deficit in the budget was caused by the actions of previous administration, which i suspect you voted for, but now will not accept responsibility for.
6. As a percentage of the gnp US debt today is less than it was at the end of ww2. It was followed by a period where the US was the envy of the world, having the most prosperous nation in history. Cutting our spending immediately would drive us straight into a depression, which is what some of them want.

Ok, I am all for people getting the medical help they need, but why do I have to pay for it? There are so many people out there using the system and there is no reason for it. Get a job! You know I have a great idea....all those people that sit home and collect welfare, you know, the ones that we working class are paying for...how about this, let's make them do a drug test before they can receive their welfare check. If they don't pass the drug test, they don't get their money! That would stop alot of our money problems. Now I'm not saying everyone is like that, but let's face it...alot of them are. I am confused, if your income is low enough that you qualify for food stamps, then I don't believe you are paying income taxes at all (not to be confused with your payroll deduction of social security and medicare), so how do you think you are being asked to pay for someone elses medical care?
I also think that based upon your post your daughter is qualifies for health coverage now.
You also assume that those needing health coverage are not working or never were working. What about those that worked for decades(and paid substantial taxes) before losing their employment and their health coverage by becoming unable to work due to their health?

How do we get people like you to understand that the cost of medical coverage is doubling every decade and this rate of increase is not sustainable? Heath insurance that cost $500 per month in 2000 is now over $1000 per month and will be over $2000 per month in just 10 more years and $4000 per month in 20 years. Wages are not going up anywhere near this rate. Did you miss that more cars are now assembled in Canada than in the US because the company can save $1600 per car in health insurance by building in Canada. Did you miss the GM CEO when he said health insurance was not the only reason for bankruptcy, but it was the big one. Are you beginning to see why we are now a rust belt and the good jobs are gone or going?

Actually they can if they quit spending $80.00 a week on cigarettes and $60.00 a week at the bar.I have seen it being a batender and a grocery store clerk,add that money up and you have $560.00 a month that is wasted, now you can buy health Ins. for that and don't forget you can purchase health ins. for your children for $10.00 a month, as a family from My Child. So health care is affordable. people just want it for free. I don't want to pay for someone who waists money like that. When my children were growing up I had to work 3 jobs and paid for our health care. I didn't get any child support or welfare because I made 10.00 to much. So I don't feel sorry for anyone that doesn't have it. I don't want to pay for someone(from our taxes)that creates bad health(excessive drinking & smoking) liver,brain,lung,heart damage. Also you can go to the hospital and if you give them $5.00 a week they have to accept it. I still have BC/BS and I have a co-pay and my meds still run $300.00 a month and $10.00 a DR. visit and that is cheap.So for you people that want it for free. it does come with a price that isn't fair to the rest of us. And medicade & medicare is getting cut because the gov't can't afford to pay for it and that remember that out of my pay check I have to pay into medicare and my employer does also. Look at your paycheck stubs, if you have one and see.

One of the big reasons the jobs are leaving Michigan and the Country as a whole, is the rising cost of Health Care. Don't you get that nunya? Without Healthcare reform there aren't going to be more jobs, and as the rates continue to increase at the present pace they will only achieve two things: (1) more businesses will not be able to afford to provide healthcare for their employees and close/move out, or (2) workers will be asked to pay a bigger portion to maintain the same healthcare they presently get. Think about it this way if people start getting free health care... What doctor is really goin to take good care of you none of them because they all will be working on salary because each doctor will get paid the same because everyone will basically still have the same insurance they wont be able to charge the insane prices that they do now.. Which means less people will become doctors because it will harder for them to pay off there $100,000 doallar loans that they took out because they used to get paid tons for doctor visits and now they are only getting paid a straight rate so there will be another job loss.. So when you want people who are lazy and just dont want to work and when people start abusing that think about that next time you want to complain about free health care.

There is no "crap" worse than what the Republican legislatures did to our country over the last 30 years. G.W. walked out of the White House leaving not only an empty piggy bank, but overdrawn checking, over-limit credit cards, and a stack of bills already past due. I don't really much care who's fault it is that the country is broke. I'm more interested in how we can get back to work so we all don't need the government holding our hands. You fail to understand that the real problem is that too many people are out of work.. Yes I know that there are too many who owe too much money, but that is an individual responsibility. Charging big screeen TV's and not being able to pay is an individual problem. I pay cash for my toys and I never have had that problem. I prefer if possible to pay my own way rather than asking my neighbors for the money that they worked for. As I have clearly stated I am not nor have I ever been a Republican. I do not nor have I ever supported Bush's fiscal policies either. I think you are mistaken telling me that you had already explained why the stimulus is beeing kept out of the economy till 2010. Please tell us again. I say they are waiting for the election year.. What do you say to that?
As far as the health care problem goes. I am also still waiting to hear your opinion on the 12+ million illegals using the ER's and not paying. What is Obam's solution to that one? Yes, I know. GW Bush is to blame for that one too. No kidding he is. I remember his refusal to close the borders and enforce current immigration laws. Will Obama? He keeps talking about making felons who should be deported legal citizens, absolved of their crimes of identity theft, forgery etc. Where will the money for his plan come from with 12 million new welfare recipients on the books?

I think you are again mistaken.. you never have told me just where the govt will come up with the money for these programs . Whom will you tax?
The felons are the all the illegal aliens running the streets of America forging govt documents like Social Security Cards. Stealing the idenities of others by do ing so and ruining peoples otherwise good credit lines. The illegals contribute to a great deal with the health care situation you so desperately want to fix. You can start by getting rid of the 12+million illegals from Mexico and elsewhere predominately Mexico. There are no jobs that Americans won't do contrary to what Bush and Obama say. Get rid of that segment of the population and to a great degree you relieve the strain upon our hospitals who by law must treat them yet never get paid for services rendered.
Now do you get it? This is not Patrickd land. Or are you in your own little part of the world where there are no illegals? There aren't many here because there is NO WORK to speak of. I work all over the country and Everywhere the economy has not completely tanked they flock to it. Take a walk through College Park Maryland. Just outside the University of MD. On any given day there are thousands upon thousands of them walking the streets. Same in Chicago and it's outlying areas.
I'm not in Patrick land you are just blind. You are so brainwashed you can't have an open mind. Obama told you it was so. So no matter any of the evidence put in front of you the word of the messiah is the only message you hear or want to hear. If you would simply answer those two questions I asked you .. Where will the money come from to pay for these new entitlements and who will you be taxing more to pay for it?

take a deep breath, try to become aware of the world around you. As I've pointed out to you before:
#1. There is no reason for anyone to "steal" a social security number. You DO NOT need to be a citizen to obtain a SS Card (number).
#2. Illegal aliens, almost exclusively. pay cash for all purchases. There is no indication on record of illegal aliens being less law abiding than average legal citizens (other than entering the country without documentation).
#3. I, as well as virtually all Americans, have never advocated anyone to be exempt from U.S. or statuary law.
#4. It was Senator McCain that wrote the bill suggesting amnesty as a solution, not Senator Obama.
#5. While some illegal aliens do utilize emergency care, the overwhelming amount is utilized by Americans citizens (something like 97% to 3%).
Please take my earlier suggestions seriously and seek counseling for this disorder. I'd hate to think you are wondering the streets and shops with such a misplaced hatred. Best wishes Ser Verlierer

Well I beg to differ with you. First an illegal MUST steal, forge a federal document to work in this country. An imigrant with a green card is a legal imigrant they are issued a SS# So any and ALL illegals here who have a job have stolen a valid # belonging to someone legally here. You simply cannot disput that. I work for a large construction company. They unfortunately employ lots of illegals. I have seen some of them change identities several times. Yes, I know the employer is also guilty of a felony for knowingly rehiring an illegal after his paperwork was kicked back. Why did it get kicked back? Because the true owner of the SS# was also already working... George Bush, McCain and
Obama among others in govt.have also advocated for amnesty. No matter who they are were it does not make it right. What do you think Comprehensive imigration reform is? Amnesty... Obama himself has already ruled out deportation. So what's left? Amnesty.
I am also a witness to an illegal in Indiana, who went out and financed a brand new Lincoln Aviator. Why an Aviator? He told me he would be able to sell it easily back in Mexico. Apparently they are in high demand as are Escalades back there. He drives it full of other illegals to work daily. I pity the poor sap who's true identity went to get the loan when he decides to just go back to Mexico with it. Do you think he will be sending his payments back here? I doubt it.
Have you ever spent much time out of the area here? I suggest you go on a fact finding tour of the USA. You seen locked into a single way of looking at things. No doubt from your university indoctrination.
Lastly, the reason why the majority of people utilizing the ER's are Americans is simply because WE ARE STILL THE MAJORITY! However should we continue to not enforce immigration laws we could end up in the minority.

The Federal Identification system E-Verify is required for all employers. Stolen cards, means of identification are of no value to an illegal to gain employment. Your company chooses to hire illegals to circumvent the law, E-Verify is a free, readily available system my company uses daily.
I have had residence in six states, plus two in Europe. I've seen many more illegals in Germany & France without them experiencing a problem with either their national healthcare or unemployment. Of course people complain everywhere, its an easy scapegoat to the larger problems.
You draw many assumptions related to your prejudice, which is why I've suggested you seek therapy/counseling. Your apparent thought isolationism needs expanding to encompass rational discussion and compromise.

President Obama is both a smart and busy executive. Why would anyone propose systematic program changes to the current federal healthcare system before finding out when & if there will be legislation affecting these programs?
Neither he, nor you and I, can predict how or what the final outcome of these proposed bills will enhance or diminish the current programs.
The changes he has proposed to eliminate waste and fraud are dependent on having a working national healthcare system that is accessable and viable.
You may ask "Why has this not been done before if he is aware of such fraud and waste?". President Obama has been in office for 9 months and has faced a multitude of critical issues that were not of his making, yet still, he raised this issue on the campaign trail and immediately after taking office began shaping the stradegy to bring healthcare to all in this nation. It takes congress to act, he can not do so unilaterally. Please call or write your congressperson to back President Obama's agenda.

I have not figured out which, but the elimination of fraud must be an ongoing and continuous part of any government program. Obama claims that is the resaon for the US not affording the continuation of Medicare now. So why not start cutting out the waste? If he cut out all or most of the waste maybe we wouldnot need to turn over 1/6th of our economy to the Fed govt in the first place.

He said he was going to bring back the troops and stop the senseless killings ...not done !

He does seem to be doing an OK job with the economy but that is still...not done !

good point Richard, Obama has been in office for eight months now and all he seems to do is work on a number of problems but he hasn't fixed any yet. Americans have been working on healthcare reform for the last 70 years and yet he hasn't gotten it done in his eight months in office. He has reduced the number of troops of Iraq and has a plan to get them all out by next August. But we want action now. Although the Republicans say there's no need to rush into healthcare reform. They'd just as soon drag that out for the next eight years (at least).
He seems to be taking his time and thinking things out before deciding on sending more troops to Afghanistan. What's with that? The last guy never had to think things out, he went by that feeling in his gut. All this cerebral stuff is making us nervous. Can't you just rush in and do something, even if it's wrong? The last guy did and we re-elected him.

Yea Vito, I'm a sore loser. I'm sore because I seem to be losing my country to a closet communist.
We get repeatedly attacked by terrorists and do nothing. Finally 911 was the last straw and we started to defend ourselves.
Since Obama has been in office he has done just about everything possible to hamstring our efforts at killing terrorists around the world. From implementing draconian rules of engagement that puts soldiers like my son who is currently deployed in great danger to the latest slap in our faces. Bringing those terrorists to New York to face prosecution in a civilian court, where it will be next to impossible to convict. For the past several years Obama and the rest of the nutty libs have been whining that the water boarding of those terrorists was torture and even advocated prosecuting our intelligence service people with war crimes. Now they have basically deemed all enhanced interrogation as torture. Still think they will be able to convict those guys in New York? Not with confessions coerced through water boarding (Torture to you liberal feel gooders.) Any lawyer worth 2 cents will get that confession thrown out of court in the first day. Obama will accomplish nothing short of his dream. The destruction of our nation as we know it now. He is doing nothing more than putting the United States of America on trial. Yea, Vito. Actually I'm more than a sore loser. I'm pissed off.

Bush was an idiot for putting Afghanistan on hold while he tried to build a democracy in Iraq where they have no desire for any democracy. If he didn't have enough troops to fight two wars at the same time and win both then he and congress should have manned up and restarted the draft. If they would have done that there is a good chance that we never would have languished in Afghanistan while trying to count purple fingers in Iraq. The immense public pressure to get the job done would have forced him to do or die not put one on hold while he tried to fight a friendly war in Iraq for 7+ years. It's easy to fight long drawn out wars with no clear vision of winning with all volunteers and few to no troops directly involved coming from influential backgrounds.
