Two injured in stabbing

INDIANFIELDS TOWNSHIP — Lisa R. Husarick is charged with two counts of assault to commit murder after she allegedly stabbed her ex-husband and his girlfriend.

The stabbing took place at a residence on East Dayton Road, between Ryan and Weeden roads around 1 p.m. Michigan State Police troopers arrived on the scene at 1:09 p.m. where they discovered a 37-year-old male and 33-year-old female had been stabbed with a knife.

The victims, both of whom live in Clio, were allegedly stabbed by Husarick.

“Not much that I can say at this point,” said Tuscola County Prosecutor Mark Reene. “She (Husarick) has not been arraigned yet.”

The brother of the male victim contacted the Advertiser and stated that the stabbing occurred in front of children.

Following the stabbing, the two victims were transported to Caro Community Hospital for treatment. The male was treated and released. The female was stabilized and then transported to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw for surgery, where she was listed in stable condition.

Husarick was transported to Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City for non-life threatening injuries that she sustained during the altercation with the male victim. She was then sent to Health Source in Saginaw for evaluation.

Reene said he could not comment on whether Husarick has been released.

The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Caro Police Department, the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department and Mobile Medical Response units from Caro, Fairgrove and Cass City.

Husarick is pending arraignment in the 71-B District Court. Assault with intent to commit murder is punishable by life or any number of years in prison.

The police did not get there in 9 min. They waited till they had backup. they didn't get there for at least 20 min.the police were scared to get there. The ambulance was there before the police. someone could have died.We need a police force that isn't scared.

So, to clarify, an ambulance was on the scene of a violent altercation before law enforcement? Unarmed ambulance attendants were on the scene before armed police officers?

All I can say to that is that those ambulance attendants deserve the praise and thanks of this community for a job well done. They do not sign on to put their lives in danger, they are there to save lives. Standard procedure calls for law enforcement to diffuse a situation before an ambulance arrives. These attendants went above and beyond what they were called to do.

As for the actions of law enforcement, I really wish that I could say that this was an unusual occurence in Tuscola County. It isn't. Poor response times and lack of concern for citizens has been a problem for a long, long time - and it is en masse, not affecting just one police agency. These victims were extremely lucky.

Cops with firearms needed backup before confronting a woman with a knife??? Makes you wonder why we needed to save their jobs before private sector jobs..

When referring to the state police, and unfortunately more and more county and municipal departments you all confusing what you knew as youngster as community policing with para-military organizations. Para-military organizations are structured to carry out military style operations. The drug war is a fine excuse. War on U.S. soil perpetrated and carried out against Americans on American soil. It doesn't get any cooler than that. Collateral injuries and death are acceptable risks until it's you and yours. But that's ok as a taxpayer I'm gonna foot the bill when the police step over the line.
In my youth I remember police officers who lived in my community and kept an eye out for me. If I crossed the line I didn't fear the police or jail as much as I feared they would inform my parents. Those days are almost gone in most communities, the rest are headed that way.

Police departments with armored vehicles, decommissioned tanks, are the coolest aspect of all this. Tanks on the streets of America. The government knows exactly what it's doing. Get used to it.

Need some help? Just watch the cop shows, SWAT teams are so entertaining dressed all in black with white lettering on stealth uniforms, hoods pulled over their faces before confronting citizen's in their homes with the finest military hardware. I love it.

The most entertaining thing of all is when I get to see the SWAT teams breaking down doors, terrorizing the children present in the home. This is great training for Americas youth as to what to expect from your local para-military organization. You cannot leave a lasting impression on a child the way you can when your pointing flashlights and guns at them. A lesson that will last a lifetime. But then that's what those children deserve for choosing to live under those circumstances right?

Maybe the military should be the police. The government has made it clear citizen's have a great deal to fear and desperately need the brave to protect them from the threats present right here on our streets. Everybody with me on this one? Seems to be working to protect citizens in Iraq and Afghanistan why not here?

Are you aware that the scenario you lay out is Obama's dream? Do you remember his campaign speeches about a "Civilian" force equally funded and armed as the US Military? I remember and that alone told me everything I needed to know about his agenda.

    wkoper,

We are a bit more civilized than those in Iraq and Afganistan. We don't kill our daughters because they embarras us, we don't set up roadside bombs to kill troops that were sent to stabilize our region, we don't proselytize a religion that advocates sending our children into the streets with bombs strapped to their chests.

Bearing that in mind, it is really ridiculous to insinuate that America would benefit from an increased military presence in our day-to-day lives. This is just another form of fearmongering to further your agenda, and it really isn't pertinent to the discussion at hand.

To summarize, police response times need to be improved. Concerned citizens need to stay on target and address that issue, not enter into another discussion about the legalization of marijuana and other street drugs. This is neither the time nor the place for that discussion.

Oops forgot that pesky Constitution. Can't put the federal military on U.S. soil except in times of national emergency or invasion. Guess we'll just have to keep building our own municipal, county, and state military forces via the available resources, ie the police. Let's get hem armed with as much military hardware as possible. Government should have sole rights to the biggest guns available so as to assure the safety of the citizenry, from themselves, when necessary.

    wkoper,
Yes I know. The right has always blindly advocated for a huge police force all in the name of catching the bad guys. Myself, I am old fashioned. I believe in individual freedom and with that am a strong supporter of the individual's right to pack heat and use it if needed. That way you don't need to rely upon a police force that is 99 9/10ths % reactionary to begin with. I can draw down on a wanna be bad guy in a couple of seconds vs. waiting minutes to hours for a police officer to arrive after the fact.
The difference between the beefed up police force the right pushed compared to Obama's dream force is that Obama specifically stated that he wanted a civilian force on par with the US military. Both in size and scope with equal funding.. That's pretty scary and outrageous if you ask me. What police force needs tanks, artillery, jet fighters etc.
As far as the Posse Comitatus act of 1878 rules go. How about you wrack your brain and think back to February 28, 1993 in Waco, TX and the Branch Dividians. Bill Clinton and his b--ch Attorney General, Janet Reno (Both Hard Core Democrats) used the US Military from Ft Hood, TX to burn out over 80 inocent people. Remember the tank crashing through the wall??? If they wanted David Karesh they could have arrested him anytime. The ATF used to target practice with him at a local range. All under cover of course. Just remember what political party actually used the military to do police work.
Also, while they were not military, remember when the same two people used a swat team to break down that door in the middle of the night to get Elian Gonzales so they could turn him over to Obama;s newest & best friend. Fidel Castro..

BOTH PARTIES are all for using big police to control us the population.

Hey something we can agree on!! Yes the Waco tragedy was a sad day and I'll never understand the populace not being more outraged at the death of so many children at the hands of the U.S. government. To those quick to react I blame Koresh as much as anybody but without government intervention would those children have burned to death at his hands? I don't believe so. Government of the corporation, by the corporation, for the corporation. Not Lincoln's Gettysburg address but appropriate today. Defend corporate freedom to the death!

Well I doubt any corporations had anything to do with Waco or Miami. More like a paranoid govt determined to stifle any and all opposition to the status quo.
Speak out loud enough and someone from the govt will do whatever it takes to shut you up one way or the other..
That's why I take people like Obama seriously. The opinion I have formed of him came from words that came out of his mouth and the people he has chosen to surround himself with. Nothing else.
Think a police state can't happen here? Think again. Both political parties have been actively working to establish one for decades. Once they finally succeed there is no doubt in my mind that I will end up in some gulag for thought retraining.

Why save your story for the proper authorities, considering you're slamming the proper authorities by spouting off information that I believe to be false. I highly doubt, considering the location of the incident, that it took 20 minutes for the cops to show up and do anything. The incident took place outside of Caro, cop central for the county.

Are response times terrible because the cops don't care, or because they're undermanned for the amount of calls that they take? 860 square miles is alot of area to cover when there's only a couple cops on duty for the county at any given time (meaning the state and county). Personally, I think that you simply hate the police and don't give any of them a chance. There are bad ones here or there, but I think, for the most part, our cops do the best that they can.

All the more reason to arm the public so they won't need to wait on those couple of cops on duty. If it takes 20 minutes to arrive they are probably about 19 minutes too late to prevent anything bad from happening and are only acting as a reactionary, after the fact force instead of in a preventative maner. These days everyone seems to believe that the police are the only ones who should be able to enforce the law when in actuality it is everyone's civic duty to also enforce the laws.

Just wonering when did a story about a stabbing turn into a Milita hoopla. Also, to all of you who are talking about this family. There may have been problems in the past, but who are you to judge. A very tragic thing happened in front of 2 wonderful children. As far as the suspect do any of you know she endured abuse from the ex for several years in front of these same wonderful children, and was still being tormented by this man to this day in front of the children. A person can only take so much before they break. I am not condoning the incident at all, but I would like to remind people of this small town that people should be reminded that everytime they point a finger at someone there are 3 fingers pointing back on themselves. As far as the police there are definately issues with response times that definately need to be addressed, but I don't think a Military state is the way to go at all.

I don't think anyone is questioning the abuse And if it was abuse from the exhusband well then target him and him only, why was the ex husbands girlfreind hurt at all!! so the abuse defence might help her on her ex but What her ex's girlfriend abused her to!! I am sure everything will come out in court and justice will be served !! So I guess lets just wait for the facts to come out and then it won't be anyones opinion!!

    From the victims:

First off, We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the lady and gentleman that assisted us in this horrific event. We will forever be grateful for the helping hands, and the proof that some people have morals and kindness when others are in need. We both truly believe that if you both were not there, we might not be here now. You are angels!
Secondly, the ambulance, and police did not arrive on the scene for at least 20 minutes.....it was reported correctly on here by mlinrose...sorry to let you all know, but phone records don't lie about the times the calls are made, and there are millions of cases of people/authorities/etc..that lie to save their jobs/butts. And in this case 2 911 calls were made!

Thirdly, to those of you whom have nothing better to do but voice your ignorant opinions about things you do not have the facts on, then maybe you should run for judge in Tuscola County! I happen to know first hand that they will allow you to be ignorant and remain in that job! (Only one judge in mind, and he knows who he is...I'm sure he's feeling the guilt of being an unruly a** right now) Really, get something better to do..the world is too full of selfish know it alls that don't know squat!

We would also like to thank anyone/everyone that has relayed information to the police about this case. I only pray that she will never be back in society again to have the chance of doing this to others.

God Bless all of you that have shown your concern not only for us, but for humanity in general and how we, (in any city, state, county..etc..) need our police, ambulances, government, etc..to perform their civil duties in accordance to the laws and oaths that they commit to that protect us. We are the taxpayers and deserve to be able to rely on them! We break rules/laws etc...we pay! They should too.
Not everything can be assumed as a joke, not even on Halloween...truly there should have been no question...just response to the call in a timelier manner. Yes, someone could have died.

    Thank you again!

I HAVE known this family for years, and I'm not doubting there were issues, but doesn't every family have issues?? I do not know why the ex's girlfriend was targeted, but I can see why the ex was. A person can only be abused for so long before they can't take it anymore, and snap or fight back. It is truly a sad situation for all involved, (especially those children), and I am glad no one was killed, but we all need to wait for the facts, and quit wasting time making assumptions, playing innocent, and accusing, because none of us know the exact reason why this happened except the parties involved. So let's just stop the nonscense and let the judges decide. BTW is it really in ones best judgement to call a judge in the county you are about to go to court in names? I wouldn't think so. I truley believe that this was an act of perodic madness, and do not believe that people should judge anyone, or make statements about anyone elses family until you've walked a mile in their shoes.

There is no reason to ever commit such acts of violence. There is help for people that think like you do, maybe you should seek it out.
Freedom of speech/opinion gives me the right to say what I want about "one" judge in particular whom wasn't named in this at all. The system needs to be corrected in this county...period!
Saying things about others families?..nothing was said about families in our comment, but you did in yours.
These two ex's have had nothing to do with each other in well over a year unless being in court together, so seeing how one can snap, or fight back now reguardless of what you believe their past stories were,...physically?...really? For what?...ummm...maybe you've snapped!
Noone is playing innocent...it's just easy to see who is innocent in this case.

It is your right to say anyhting you please about the response of the police in this case. My concern was simply that you would say something that would inadvertantly impede the prosecuting of this case. I understand that the delayed reaction of the police is your main concern, but "omgrukiddingme" was fishing for information that could be used against the prosecuting of this case. That individual appears to be involved in the legal system in Tuscola County. My reaction was in concern for you, not a criticism.
